Female Trouble (1974)

USA 97m, Colour
Director: John Waters; Cast: Divine, David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce, Mink Stole, Edith Massey, Cookie Mueller, Susan Walsh, Michael Potter

female_troubleFemale Trouble is a demented comedic offering by the king of twisted camp comedy John Waters starring a young “Divine” who plays Dawn Davenport, a very troubled woman, whose life we follow from senior high to her execution by electric chair. As with all of Water’s eccentric films, the cast is a mix of bizarre and colorful characters that are put into shocking and often grotesque scenarios which are strangely mesmerizing. Despite a general lack of acting abilities, the cast are guided by Water’s considerable talent as a producer, writer and director in arguably the most entertaining of his early film efforts (Klaus Ming December 2009).
