Moneyball (2011)

US 133m, Colour
Director: Bennett Miller; Cast: Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman

MoneyballMoneyball is one of the most entertaining biographical baseball films in years, and perhaps the best since The Natural (1984). Based on 2003 Michael Lewis book of the same name, Moneyball is the story of Billy Beane’s attempt to reassemble the Oakland Athletics baseball team in 2002 after losing a number of their high-profile players to teams with bigger budgets for player salaries. A beautifully shot film which can be enjoyed by both fans of baseball and non-sports fans alike – Moneyball offers a surprisingly intriguing look at how objective measurements in player performance transformed the way sports teams are assembled and managed (Klaus Ming June 2012).
