Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie (2012)

US 94m, Colour
Directors: Tim Heidecker & Eric Wareheim; Cast: Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Erica Durance, Will Forte, Jeff Goldblum

After spending a billion dollars making a three minute “piece of crap”, Tim and Eric take jobs at a bankrupt shopping mall to earn back the money they lost in the production of their first “feature length” film for the Schlaaang Corporation. The real film, which is based on a perfectly clichéd movie within a movie theme, provides just enough of a vehicle to string together a lot of awkwardly funny and bizarre moments. Wholly misunderstood by most, hated by many and appreciated by a lucky few who share in the absurdity of their humour, Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie is not quite as funny as their television sketch comedy, but there’s certainly enough hilarity, and Shriiiiiiiiiiimm, to keep most die-hard fans happy and most everyone else terribly confused (Klaus Ming June 2012).
