The Wolverine is the latest instalment in Marvel’s X-Men series of films, and the second featuring the mutant known as Wolverine. Having removed himself from society after killing Jean Grey in The Last Stand (2006), Wolverine finds himself being taken to visit a dying man who had been his captor in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in 1945. Believing he is about to fulfil the man’s last wishes, Wolverine finds himself back in Japan stripped of his ability to heal himself, and in the unfamiliar position of having to rely on others. A dark and interesting story which greatly expands Logan’s character, The Wolverine is one of the better X-Men instalments before falling victim to the Silver Samurai in the last act (Klaus MIng August 2013).
