USA 154m, silent (B&W)
Director: Raoul Walsh; Cast: Douglas Fairbanks, Snitz Edwards, Charles Belcher, Julanne Johnston, Anna May Wong

thief-of-bagdadThe Thief of Bagdad is a silent era action adventure blockbuster filled with great special effects and an amazing larger than life theatrical performance by the smooth moving and ruggedly good-looking Douglas Fairbanks. The plot takes the Thief of Bagdad, played by Fairbanks, on a perilous and fantastic seven month spectacularly dangerous quest to prove himself worthy of the hand of a beautiful Princess. Fairbanks’ performance is incredibly physical and visually mesmerizing as he effortlessly jumps, glides, climbs and flies in just about every scene of the film (Klaus Ming January 2009).
