USA 92m, Colour
Director: Jared Hess; Cast: Jack Black, Ana de la Reguera, Héctor Jiménez, Darius Ros
Hands down, Nacho Libre is the funniest Mexican-wrestling themed movie ever made. Jack Black plays Nacho Libre: a pious toast-eating monk by day, and a fiercely-competitive masked-luchador by night. Nacho must wrestle with his beliefs which remind him that fighting for money is a sin, and his overwhelming desire to enter the ring wearing his stretchy pants, cape and mask! Aside from the hilarious lines and great physical comedy of Jack Black, this slapstick film has some outstanding wrestling, great cinematography and a fabulous soundtrack that is one of the most memorable in movie history (Klaus Ming May 2009).
