Director: Satyajit Ray; Cast: Soumitra Chatterjee, Sharmila Tagore, Alok Chakravarty, Swapan Mukherjee

WorldofApuApur Sansar is the final chapter in the Apu Trilogy in which we follow the life of Apu, a charismatic young man from a poor Bengali family who has suffered great personal loss. Through chance circumstances, he finds himself attending the wedding of his friend’s cousin which forces him to make a life-changing decision. After taking the place of an unfit groom and the bride back to the city as his wife, it looks as if Apu’s luck would finally change. The World of Apu provides a fitting ending for a most-engaging trio of films which demonstrate the talent and vision of Satyajit Ray and the excellent cast and crews involved in these most original and beautifully-filmed productions (Klaus Ming October 2009).
