The Story of Anvil is driven by the impossibly optimistic members of the 1980s Canadian heavy metal band who never gave up on achieving the stardom they felt that they deserved. Perhaps at the height of their original popularity, the film opens up at a rock festival in Japan, where they are headlining with the Scorpions, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi, who all went on to worldwide fame. As guys with regular day jobs, the film follows Reiner and Kudlow as they continue to rock in virtual obscurity 30 years after their initial short-lived notoriety. The result is a heartfelt, captivating, and very entertaining documentary about two of the hardest working musicians in Canadian history (Klaus Ming July 2010).
