A Simple Plan (1998)

USA 121m, Colour
Director: Sam Raimi; Cast: Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton, Brent Briscoe, Bridget Fonda

A Simple Plan is suspense-filled drama which turns deadly, when two brothers and their buddy find a duffel bag filled with four million dollars in a plane wreck on a snowy day in rural Minnesota. Their luck quickly turns to misfortune as their plan unwinds and the “FBI” comes to investigate. The strength of this movie is the simplicity of its premise and the intricacy of the plot. A Simple Plan is based on a novel of the same name, written by Scott Smith, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. Likewise, the performances by Billy Bob Thornton and Bill Paxton are outstanding as the unlikely siblings who eventually come to odds over the events which spiral out of their control (Klaus Ming August 2010).
