Shaolin Soccer (2001)

Hong Kong 102m, Colour
Director: Stephen Chow; Cast: Stephen Chow, Zhao Wei, Ng Man Tat, Patrick Tse, Danny Chan Kwok Kwan

Sing (aka Steel Leg) may be a poor man, but he is also Master of Shaolin Kung Fu who has dedicated his life to bringing its benefits to modern society. His efforts are rewarded when he teams up “Golden Leg” – a once legendary Hong Kong soccer star whose career was ended by a former teammate who has since become a powerful and treacherous business man. The result is an offbeat and truly hilarious movie with spectacular computer generated scenes which meld soccer playing with Kung Fu in ways that are almost unimaginable. Shaolin Soccer is a lighthearted and truly entertaining film with an incredible cast of memorable oddball characters (Klaus Ming January 2011).
