Monsters (2010)

UK 94m, Colour
Director: Gareth Edwards; Cast: Whitney Able, Scoot McNairy, Mario Zuniga Benavides

Monsters is a surprisingly realistic and well-crafted low-budget science fiction film about an accidental alien invasion which threatens not only humans, but the planet’s ecosystem. With the feel of a documentary, and with minimal exposition, the film’s characters attempt to make their way across the infected zone and back into the United States from Mexico. The glowing monsters are largely shown in shadows and at night, and are enormous tentacled creatures which seem intelligent and largely peaceful, except when attacked by fighter jets. The big reveal in the film’s conclusion suggests that the story is only beginning, and that we should expect to see more Monsters at the cinema in the near future (Klaus Ming November 2011).

Definitely worth a look if your a sci-fi /monster fan. Although i’d bet most general audiences will find it kind of slow.
