Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975)

Japan83m, Colour
Director: Ishirō Honda; Cast: Katsuhiko Sasaki, Tomoko Ai, Akihiko Hirata, Katsumasa Uchida, Gorō Mutsumi, Tadao Nakamaru, Toru Kawai

In Terror of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla is back to battle the creations of a rogue scientist who is employed by aliens who intend to take over the world. Pitted against the re-built Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus, who have urban renewal plans for Tokyo, Godzilla is once again called into action to save Japan. In addition to some quality scenes of destruction, Terror of Mechagodzilla has a surprisingly complex plot which does not solely rely on monster battles. As the last Godzilla under the direction of Ishirō Honda, “Terror” also marks a return to a darker and more adult theme, which includes aliens, psychic control and a cyborg love interest (Klaus Ming February 2012).
