Forrest Gump (1994)

US 141m, Colour/B&W
Director: Robert Zemeckis; Cast: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, Sally Field

Forrest Gump is the fictional life story of a mentally challenged young man who makes up for what he lacks in IQ with his physical ability and common sense. Largely a kindhearted dramatic love story, it is also a comedy based upon Forrest’s unwitting participation in a series of world events which is accomplished the film maker’s clever manipulation of historical footage. Hugely nostalgic for the baby boom generation, this is an entertaining film which finds a balance between drama, frivolity and melodrama (Klaus Ming November 2012).
