Stranded (2001)

Spain 95m, Colour
Director: María Lidón; Cast: Vincent Gallo, Maria de Medeiros, Joaquim de Almeida, Maria Lidón, Daniel Aser, Johnny Ramone, José Sancho, Paul Gibert

strandedStranded is a simple but very effective psychological drama that takes place on the surface of Mars, and which follows the survivors of a doomed mission toward an unknown fate. Unlike most of the contemporary film offerings such as Mission to Mars (2000), Red Planet (2000), and Ghosts of Mars (2001), Stranded does not rely on special effects, sensational events, or on a heroic rescue attempt. Rather, this film is presented in an almost documentary style, and is a story of interpersonal relations and survival set in the claustrophobic Martian atmosphere (Klaus Ming January 2013).
