The Life of Pi is a visually astonishing film based on the 2001 Yann Martel novel of the same name. Surpassing anything yet put to film, the computer generated animations are terrifyingly convincing, and without which, this story could not have been brought to the screen. The harrowing story of a young man known as Pi, and his 227 days at sea with a “Bengal Tiger” is also a fascinating story in its own right, and provides a rich and more palatable allegory for what actually happened during Pi’s journey of survival both at sea and throughout his life after he is rescued (Klaus Ming January 2013).
