The Hangover (2009)

US 100m, Colour
Director: Todd Phillips; Cast: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Heather Graham, Justin Bartha, Jeffrey Tambor

hangoverThe Hangover is a hilariously vulgar comedy about the aftermath of a bachelor party that resulted in friends Phil, Stu and Alan losing their best friend Doug in Las Vegas. Though the bachelor party plot is well-worn movie premise, The Hangover is a surprisingly original comedy on the basis of what is left to the viewer’s imagination. Rather than show what actually occurred, the characters retrace their lost night of debauchery in an attempt to locate their buddy who we know is missing from the outset of the film (Klaus Ming October 2013).

Still funny even after these years. And yes, even after the two lame sequels. Good review Klaus.

I’m not sure how I missed this movie until now. The only reason I watched it was that it appeared on the revised 1001 list and I found a copy for a dollar in a delete bin at one of the few surviving local video stores in our town. It’s funnier than I expected.
