Cherry 2000 (1987)

US 93m, Colour
Director: Steve De Jarnatt; Cast: Melanie Griffith, David Andrews, Tim Thomerson, Pamela Gidley

cherry2000A craptacular dystopian science fiction film about Sam Treadwell, a young man whose obsession with his robot girlfriend, known as a model Cherry 2000, takes him on an adventure to find a new body for the downloaded memories of his short-circuited pleasure-bot. Hiring a sexy seasoned tracker, played by the extraordinarily monotone-voiced Griffith, Sam finds more than he bargains for when he enters the wastelands. So bad, it’s almost good, Cherry 2000 has achieved cult status despite its surprising  lack of nudity (Klaus Ming January 2014).

This keeps popping up as a must-watch on Netflix… sounds like my subliminal judgement to avoid is sound?

Heh, heh, It’s worth watching to see some spectacularly bad acting on Melanie Griffith’s part.

The opening few minutes set this up as some sort of soft core porn film, but turns out to be a pretty funny post apocalyptic outing.
