American Hustle (2013)

US 138m, Colour
Director: David O. Russell; Cast: Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lawrence

American_HustleAmerican Hustle is a dark comedic late 1970s period crime drama about two con artists who are coerced by a FBI agent to become part of an over complicated sting operation aimed at entrapping members of Congress who are willing to take bribes. Though the story has a tendency to lag, Bale is brilliant as the slightly overweight follically challenged con-man, as is Lawrence in her role as his estranged and somewhat deranged wife. If for no other reason, American Hustle is a must-see for the best comb-over since Woody Harrelson in Kingpin (Klaus Ming February 2014).

And Russell knows that the comb-over is the deal — that’s why he starts with it. 🙂

I saw this and I laughed every few minutes (after I’d left the theater) for at least the next half hour.

Thought it was pretty amusing as well, even without the comb-over.

Everybody here is great and make this movie so much damn better than it had any right to be. Good review Klaus.
