The Departed (2006)

US 151m, Colour
Director: Martin Scorsese; Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, Anthony Anderson, Alec Baldwin

The-DepartedA thrilling crime drama and remake of Internal Affairs (2002), The Departed is set in the City Boston and follows the infiltration of an undercover cop into the Irish Mob, who, in turn has a mole in the police force. Much of the film is a cat and mouse game between the two “rats” who attempt to discover each other’s identity. A critically acclaimed and box office success, The Departed is a graphically violent film, full of suspense, double crosses and nods to classic gangster films (Klaus Ming April 2014).

Goes on long, but is always fun. Especially on repeat-viewings, which I have done many of. Good review Klaus.

I hadn’t seen it since it came out in theatres and was not disappointed.

Not my favorite Scorsese, but one I like. Glad he finally got his Oscar, even if he should’ve gotten it years earlier for some better films.

Not my favourite genre, but still really enjoyed it. I agree, that Scorsese has made better films that were more Oscar-worthy. Still, good to see him finally recognized.
