The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014)

US 123m, Colour
Director: Francis Lawrence; Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland

mockingjay-part-1As the first of two parts of the third book of the Hunger Games trilogy written by Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay is the strongest of the three films so far released. A Roman Empire inspired dystopian science fiction film, Mockingjay turns the political unrest of the previous films into a full-blown rebellion against the Capitol. As the reluctant symbol of the movement, the Hunger Games heroine, Katniss Everdeen matures along with the plot, which both grow darker and more interesting (Klaus Ming December 2014).

Good review Klaus. It was working so well, for so very long, that I couldn’t help but be terribly disappointed with the abrupt ending.

With the title that included Part – 1, I wasn’t surprised it “ended” as it did. Though certainly does not work as a stand-alone movie.
