The Danger Girl (1916)

US 24m, B&W, Silent
Director: Clarence G. Badger; Cast: Gloria Swanson, Bobby Vernon, Helen Bray, Myrtle Lind, Reggie Morris, Eddie Sutherland

TheDangerGirlThe Danger Girl is a briskly paced and light-hearted comedy about a rambunctious young woman who becomes bored with her boyfriend Bobby, until he begins to take an interest in another woman. In a plan to lure the attentions of the other woman away from her boyfriend she disguises herself as a man. Though the plot does not make much sense, nor is the comedy all that funny, the eye-catching cross-dressing Swanson is terrifically expressive, with a natural charm and surprising comedic timing that carries this largely forgotten two-reel comedy (Klaus Ming December 2014).
