US 133m, Colour
Director: Clint Eastwood; Cast: Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller
American Sniper is the tragic story of Texan Chris Kyle, a veteran of the US/Iraq War whose combat experiences are juxtaposed against his personal and family life. A simple biographical story about complex matters, American Sniper has a strong anti-war message which lays just beneath the surface of Kyles’ personal motivations and self-professed patriotism. In depicting the deep psychological consequences of his actions for himself and for his family, Eastwood deftly guides Cooper’s convincing performance as the Devil of Ramadi, American patriot and victim of war (Klaus Ming February 2015).

An effective look at PTSD, no matter how much the hooplah surrounding it gets in the way. Good review Klaus.
