The Judge (2014)

US 142m, Colour
Director: David Dobkin; Cast: Robert Downey, Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard, Billy Bob Thornton

TheJudgeThe Judge is combination courtroom and family drama about the relationship between a recently widowed father with terminal cancer, and his estranged son who returns home for his mother’s funeral, only to learn that his father has been charged with murder. The film’s relatively complex plot, seems only to scratch the surface of the character’s motivations in what should have been a profoundly moving drama. As principal characters, Duvall and Downey have a chemistry as father and son, however neither character is particularly likable, which also makes it difficult to develop much sympathy for either of them (Klaus Ming February 2015).

Good review Klaus. Way too long and conventional. The performances did help it some, however.

I liked the movie more than i thought i would after reading the reviews, though it tried to tell too many stories, and as a result, they all suffered a little.
