MonroeMarilyn Monroe is one of the 20th century’s most recognizable pop icons and sex symbols. As an actress, her movie career began with small roles in notable films, including The Asphalt Jungle (1950) and All About Eve (1950). In addition to both of these being on the 1001 list, Monroe developed her persona to commercial and critical acclaim in films such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and How to Marry a Millionaire (1953). Four of Monroe’s films appear on the 1001 list, including: The Asphalt Jungle (1950), All About Eve (1950), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and Some Like It Hot (1959) (Klaus Ming March 2015).
