Feed ’em and Weep (1928)

US 18m, Silent, B&W
Director: Fred Guiol; Cast: Anita Garvin, Marion Byron, Max Davidson, Edgar Kennedy, Charlie Hall, Frank Alexander

feed_em_and_weep_1928A genuinely funny slapstick comedy short, Feed ’em and Weep employs a female comedic duo whose characters are reminiscent of Laurel and Hardy. Looking for work as they make their way to Hollywood, to become film stars, Anita and Marion take jobs as waitresses at a small restaurant that is expecting 100 ravenous train passengers. Though this recently restored film remains unfortunately incomplete, what is preserved is a wonderful collection of fast paced gags as the gals attempt to serve all of their customers before the train is scheduled to depart (Klaus Ming March 2015).
