porco-rossoMarco Pagot is an ex WWI Italian flying ace who is torn between loyalty to his country and love for Gina, a foreign national who was on the wrong side of the war. Initially choosing his county over love, Marco loses his faith in humanity after witnessing the deaths of so many fellow pilots during the war, and declares that it is better to be a pig than a fascist. As Porco Rosso, the Crimson Pig, Marco is now a bounty hunter who has become the target of an American pilot hired by air pirates to shoot him down. Initially defeated in their first encounter, Porco enlists the help of a young friend who helps restore his plane, and his faith in humanity (Klaus Ming March 2015).
