L’Express Matrimonial (1912)

France 12m, Silent, B&W
Directed by Léonce Perret; Cast: Valentine Petit, Léonce Perret, Marie Dorl

Matrimonial_ExpressThe Matrimonial Express is a cute romantic comedy that is set aboard a train. Looking for love, Léonce spies an attractive woman accompanied by her chaperon and endeavors to attract her attention. Although his initial efforts to meet the woman are thwarted, he finally bribes a porter to sit him at their table in the dining car. Taking advantage of a dark tunnel to steal a kiss, Léonce gets more than he bargained for. The filming of L’express Matrimonial aboard an actual moving train gives the film a realistic look and the viewer a voyeuristic experience (Klaus Ming March 2015).
