Pasażerka (1963)

Poland 62m B&W
Director: Andrzej Munk and Witold Lesiewicz; Cast: Aleksandra Śląska, Anna Ciepielewska, Janusz Bylczynski, Krzesislawa Dubielówna

passengerPassenger is the intriguing and disturbing story of Liza, a former SS Overseer at the Auschwitz concentration camp. After the war, and while aboard a cruise ship, she spots a woman who she believes to be one of her former prisoners – a Polish woman named Marta who she “befriended” at the camp. Told as a series of flashbacks from Liza’s perspective, this is an unfinished film with narration that steps outside of the story as means to describe what the film may have become if it had been completed by the now deceased director (Klaus Ming May 2015).
