Harold and Maude (1971)

US 91m, Colour
Director: Hal Ashby; Cast: Ruth Gordon, Bud Cort, Vivian Pickles, Cyril Cusack

harold_maudeHarold and Maude is a unique dark romantic comedy about the unlikely relationship between a disillusioned young man obsessed by death and already tired of life, and Maude, an eccentric 79-year-old holocaust survivor who lives her life to the fullest day by day. Extensively set to the upbeat music of Cat Stevens, Harold and Maude is a surprisingly hopeful movie considering its existential subject matter and melancholy conclusion (Klaus Ming June 2015).
