Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)

UK/US 129m, Colour
Director: Matthew Vaughn; Cast: Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton, Michael Caine

kingsmanKingsman is a crazy over-the-top action thriller about a young man who is recruited by a top-secret British spy organization who assists in foiling a global plot masterminded by billionaire Richmond Valentine to depopulate the earth, saving only the super rich and powerful. Both an homage and lampoon of the Bond movies, Vaughn’s hyper violent darkly comedic action film also plays with themes from My Fair Lady (1964) and other films which transform the main character. In the case of Kingsman, Eggsy, a street punk is remade into a James Bond-style gentleman who, of course, saves the world and gets the beautiful woman (Klaus Ming June 2015).

I saw this one on a plane and that is where it belong. It is easy and fun in parts, but ultimately too silly.
