Im Keller (2014)

Austria 82m, Colour
Director: Ulrich Seidl; Cast: Fritz Lang, Alfreda Klebinger, Manfred Ellinger, Inge Ellinger, Josef Ochs, Alessa Duchek, Gerald Duchek, Cora Kitty, Peter Vokurek, Walter Holzer

Im-KellerAside from their terrifying home decor, Im Keller explores what Austrian militia, python owners, doll collectors, S&M enthusiasts, disillusioned youth, and Nazis all have in common, which is: that their hobbies are pursued in the “privacy” of their basements. An amusingly provocative, sexually explicit, and often graphically disturbing look at people’s obsessions, Seidl lets his subjects speak for themselves without commentary, leaving the viewer to make their own judgement upon what they just witnessed (Klaus Ming June 2015).
