Mr. Holmes (2015)

UK/US 104m, Colour
Director: Bill Condon; Cast: Ian McKellen, Laura Linney, Hiroyuki Sanada, Milo Parker

Mr-HolmesBased upon the 2005 Mitch Cullin novel “A Slight Trick of the Mind”, Mr. Holmes is a melancholy drama about the last days of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous fictional detective. Suffering the onset of senility, a 93-year-old Mr. Holmes is determined to remember the details of his last case which led to his retirement. In a tale which slowly unfolds in both the past and present, McKellen delivers a nuanced performance throughout a cleverly interwoven character study and a story befitting of Doyle’s legendary detective (Klaus Ming September 2015).
