Without an independent commercial theater in our city, it is a rare occasion to see a silent film in public. Tonight is one of those rare occasions, with the screening of Charlie Chaplin’s 1918 silent film “Shoulder Arms“. The first in a series of film screenings to honour of the 100th anniversary of the First World War, the film is to be introduced by artist and musician Elling Lien. Though the rest of the titles in the film series have yet to be listed, this is an encouraging development at The Rooms, which has a purpose-built theater that is perfect for this kind of event (Klaus Ming November 2015).
