I am Jesus (2011)

Italy 75m, Colour
Directors: Valerie Gudenus and Heloisa Sartorato; Cast: David Shayler, Álvaro Theiss, Sergey Anatolyevitch Torop

I am Jesus is a documentary about three widely differing Christian communities that have formed around three different people all of whom have claimed to be the second coming of Jesus Christ. Interestingly, the filmmakers have not attempted to challenge their claims, but rather, let each of the would-be Christs and their followers tell their own tales. What emerges is the story of three charismatic individuals who somewhat defiantly declare that they have nothing to prove. Likewise, their sheeple are seemingly happy to accept the relationship with their culturally imagined version of Christ (Klaus Ming January 2016).
