Bridge of Spies (2015)

US 141m, Colour
Director: Steven Spielberg; Cast: Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, Alan Alda

bridge-of-spiesBridge of Spies is a Cold War drama about secret negotiations toward an exchange of Soviet and American prisoners who are captured spying for their respective countries. Based on the real story of American pilot Gary Powers, who was shot down over the Russia in 1960, the dramatization of the events make for an entertaining and suspenseful film. In what becomes an oddly feel-good thriller, Spielberg does well to capture the nostalgia of the era, including the cat-and-mouse game that was played out between the Soviet and American superpowers (Klaus Ming January 2016).
