Room (2015)

Canada/Ireland 117m, Colour
Director: Lenny Abrahamson; Cast: Brie Larson, Jacob Tremblay, Joan Allen, Sean Bridgers, William H. Macy

Room_2015Room is a terrifying fictional drama based on Emma Donoghue’s novel of the same name about a woman and her young son who escape from a garden shed in which they were held against their will. As much of their story takes place after their escape, the focus of the film is the emotional toll on the mother, and the resiliency of the young boy. Though Room is an emotionally disturbing and difficult film to watch, Jacob Tremblay’s deeply moving performance is worth the effort (Klaus Ming January 2016).
