Creed (2015)

US 133m, Colour
Director: Ryan Coogler; Cast: Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Anthony Bellew

creedThe seventh installment in the series, Creed is perhaps the best since Rocky (1976), but like all of the others, fails to capture the excitement of that original film. As the corner man for Adonis Creed, the son of the former champion Apollo Creed, Rocky finds himself battling an even tougher opponent. Like the earlier films, Creed’s exaggerated boxing is ridiculous, though perhaps the unrealistic ring action is a fitting nostalgic throwback (Klaus Ming February 2016).

Good review. A conventional boxing movie, but one with a bit more heart and emotion than expected.
