Todo Sobre mi Madre (1999)

Spain 101m, Colour
Director: Pedro Almodóvar; Cast: Cecilia Roth, Marisa Paredes, Antonia San Juan, Penélope Cruz, Candela Peña

All About My MotherAll About My Mother is modern melodrama about a woman who reconnects with her former partner after their child is killed in a car accident. Filled with a surprising number of twists and comedic moments, this is a film that deals with identity, loss and grief through the story of an emotionally distraught mother who finds herself entwined in unusual circumstances. A sincere and beautifully crafted film, with a soap opera styled plot, Todo Sobre mi Madre remains surprisingly upbeat, despite its many dark moments (Klaus Ming March 2016).
