Uzak is a contemplative drama about Yusuf, an unemployed factory worker who travels to Istanbul seeking work and a new life. Unsuccessful in finding employment, he over stays his welcome with Mahmut, a successful cousin who offers him a place to stay while job hunting. A sort of Turkish Odd Couple, but without the comedy, they share one main similarity – the loneliness and alienation of life in a large city (Klaus Ming March 2016).
