Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)

US 86m, Colour
Director: Colin Trevorrow; Cast: Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, Jake Johnson, Karan Soni, Jenica Bergere, Kristen Bell, Jeff Garlin, Mary Lynn Rajskub

safety not guaranteedA magazine writer stuck for a story takes two interns and goes looking for the author of a newspaper classified ad that reads: “Wanted: Somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. P.O. Box 91 Ocean View, WA 99393. You’ll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before”. A romantic comedy with a science fiction theme, this is an unexpectedly sweet and intriguing story, complete with a perfectly preposterous conclusion (Klaus Ming March 2016).

Liked this more than I thought I would but wished they’d spent a bit more time on the ending. Was a bit too blown wide open for my liking!

Yeah, it was a bit of a sleeper. I found it on Netflix and gave it a shot. I liked the abruptness of the ending – though i could see how a post-script might have been fun.
