Er ist wieder da (2015)

Germany 116m, Colour
Director: David Wnendt; Cast: Oliver Masucci, Fabian Busch, Katja Riemann, Christoph Maria Herbst, Franziska Wulf, Michael Kessler

er-ist-wieder-daLook Who’s Back is a satirical sociopolitical commentary based on the 2014 novel by Timur Vermes about the return of Adolf Hitler. A Borat-style film, there are numerous unscripted interactions in which Hitler converses with German citizens, whose reactions vary from welcome salutes to angry condemnation. Not since The Great Dictator (1940) and The Producers (1968) has a film provided a parody of the Third Reich as effective, funny and frightening as Er ist wieder da (Klaus Ming April 2016).

It’s a remarkably funny film, with some alarming messages.
