Hardcore Henry (2015)

Russia/US 96m, Colour
Director: Ilya Naishuller; Cast: Sharlto Copley, Danila Kozlovsky, Haley Bennett, Andrei Dementiev, Dasha Charusha, Svetlana Ustinova, Tim Roth

hardcore-henryHardcore Henry is a frenetic science-fiction action film that was shot from a first person perspective primarily on GoPro cameras and edited in the open source software. With no memory of what had occurred, Henry is resuscitated in a high-tech lab and almost immediately is required to fight for his life. Resembling a video game that is also a bit nausea inducing, this is a highly stylized production with incredible stunt work and excellent special effects. Though the action is highly entertaining, and there is a good deal of dark humor, the near lack of plot is somewhat disappointing in what is otherwise a wildly creative production (Klaus Ming July 2016).

One of the first reviews of this I’ve actually seen. Very much looking forward to watching this, but expected the plot/story to be a bit light.

It left me wanting a little better developed plot – but still pretty entertaining. Definitely worth a look – unless first person shooters make you nauseous 🙂
