Miss Minoes (2001)

Netherlands 86m, Colour
Director: Vincent Bal; Cast: Carice van Houten, Theo Maassen, Sarah Bannier

miss minoesAlso known as Undercover Kitty, this is a simple heartwarming children’s film based on Annie M.G. Schmidt’s 1970 fantasy novel about a cat named Minoes who turns into a young woman who befriends a struggling journalist. Though undoubtedly more widely known for her role as the priestess Melisandre in the TV series Game of Thrones, van Houten’s delightful feline-like performance as Miss Minoes is as charming as they come (Klaus Ming August 2016).
