In releasing classified details about frightening government programs that monitor its own citizens, Snowden becomes a fugitive from the United States. Whether admired and condemned, Snowden’s actions set off a political firestorm around the world as it is revealed that foreign governments and corporations are complicit in these activities (Klaus Ming October 2016).
