An American nanny travels to England to escape an abusive relationship only to find herself entrusted with the care of the Heelshire’s life-sized porcelain doll that serves as proxy for their real son Brahms, who died in a house fire 20 years earlier. Thoroughly entertaining, The Boy is a suspenseful horror movie that employs many familiar themes relating to creepy dolls and haunted gothic houses, but also contains a surprising “scooby-doo” styled plot twist that turns the plot on its head (Klaus Ming October 2016).
