Le Frisson des Vampires (1971)

France 95m, Colour
Director: Jean Rollin; Cast: Sandra Julien, Jean-Marie Durand, Jacques Ribiolles, Michel Delahaye, Marie-Pierre Castel, Kuelan Herce, Nicole Nancel, Dominique

le-frisson-des-vampiresThrill of the Vampire is a hippie-styled exploitation film about two newlyweds who end up at the mercy of a pair of bourgeois vampires who are also the bride’s cousins. Sporting 1970s polyester, velvet and fur fashions, this is a visually striking film, not only for its scantily clad cast, but for its lighting and art design. Despite the interesting atmosphere, and a good deal of dialogue which attempts to provide back story and motivation for the characters, the film lacks an equally compelling plot (Klaus Ming November 2016).
