The Hired Hand (1971)

US 93m, Colour
Director: Peter Fonda; Cast: Peter Fonda, Warren Oates, Verna Bloom

the-hired-handNotable for its beautiful cinematography and score, The Hired Hand is less a traditional western and more of a drama about the relationship between a wife, her estranged husband and his best friend. Reluctantly taken in by Hannah, Harry and Arch are relegated to the barn as hired hands. Eventually realizing that if Harry and Hannah are to mend their relationship, Arch decides it’s best that he moves on, not knowing that their past actions are about to test their friendship a final time (Klaus Ming November 2016).
