Eddie the Eagle (2016)

Germany, UK/US 105m, Colour
Director: Dexter Fletcher; Cast: Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman, Christopher Walken, Iris Berben, Jim Broadbent

eddie the eagleEddie the Eagle is a heartfelt and funny dramatization of the life of Eddie Edwards, the charismatic British ski jumper who was one of the most popular, and probably best remembered athlete from the 1988 Calgary winter Olympics. Though portrayed in the film as having virtually no experience in ski jumping, and missing an opportunity to recreate his experiences in a Finnish mental institution (which I also had the opportunity to visit as an exchange student in 1987), this is a genuinely inspirational and movie with a surprising amount of adrenaline fueled drama (Klaus Ming December 2016).
