Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)

New Zealand 101m, Colour
Director: Taika Waititi; Cast: Sam Neill, Julian Dennison, Rima Te Wiata, Rachel House, Rhys Darby, Oscar Kightley, Tioreore Ngatai-Melbourne

wilderpeopleHunt for the Wilderpeople is a charming and offbeat comedic drama based on Barry Crump’s 1986 novel “Wild Pork and Watercress” about an orphaned boy and his foster-father who take to the bush when authorities want to remove the boy from his care. The relationship that is built between the principal characters is realistically moving amidst the comedic and sometimes surreal situations in which they are placed. One of the most likable and entertaining movies of 2016, Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a family movie with surprising depth (Klaus Ming January 2017).
