Hacksaw Ridge (2016)

US/Australia 139m, Colour
Director: Mel Gibson; Cast: Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths, Vince Vaughn

hacksawridgeHacksaw Ridge is an engaging biographical war drama about Desmond Doss, an American combat medic who received the Medal of Honor for his participation in the Battle of Okinawa during WWII, despite the fact that he was a conscientious objector. A remarkable story, Hacksaw Ridge is also an explicitly violent film that does well to balance an anti-war message with heroism, duty and personal conviction (Klaus Ming February 2017).
